How it works

1

Choose apps to block

Select the apps that most often pull you away from recollection — social feeds, news, whatever scatters the morning.

2

Your phone stays locked

Those apps remain closed until you keep your prayer time. The morning offering comes first, not the notifications.

3

Keep your rule, then unlock

Pray your rosary, your examen or your rule. Mark it kept, and the day is yours — begun in prayer.

For a life of prayer

Whether you pray the Rosary or the Jesus Prayer, keep a personal prayer rule or the Liturgy of the Hours, Prayer Lock is at home in both the Catholic and Orthodox traditions. It does not prescribe your prayers — it simply guards the time you have set aside for them.

Questions

What is Prayer Lock?

Prayer Lock is an iOS app that helps you keep your daily prayer rule. It locks distracting apps on your phone until you have prayed, so that your rosary, morning offering or examen comes before the noise of the day.

How does it block my phone until I pray?

You choose which apps to block. Those apps stay locked until you mark your prayer time as kept. Once you have prayed your rule, you unlock your phone and continue your day.

Is it free?

Yes. Prayer Lock is free to download on the App Store.

Is it on Android?

Not yet. Prayer Lock is available on iOS today. An Android version is in the works — you can join the waitlist to be told when it arrives.

Is it Catholic or Orthodox specific?

Neither and both. Prayer Lock works for any tradition. You choose your own prayers — the rosary, the Jesus Prayer, a personal prayer rule, the Liturgy of the Hours or anything else. The app simply guards the time.

Does it track the content of my prayers?

No. Prayer Lock does not read or record what you pray. It only tracks whether you kept your prayer time, so your streak and history stay private to you.
